Tango Spleen

Tango Spleen Orquesta, founded in Italy by the Argentine pianist and singer Mariano Speranza, has built a strong reputation through its authentic and lively stage presence.

The orchestra features a repertoire aimed at describing the multiple facets of Tango and the popular musical canon of the Argentine hinterland. It has reinterpreted classics of the genre, rediscovering lesser-known melodies and modern Piazzolla inspired compositions. It also accentuates the creative process with original compositions: in the tradition of the orquesta típica but using their own unique expression of authenticity and essence. For them, tango not only represents an inheritance from the past, but also a contemporary reality which has never been so alive and evolving.

From its inception in 2010, the ensemble has built its musical career to become recognized as “one of the leading tango orchestras of recent times”, with prestigious collaborations and international success. It has been the main orchestra at major international tango festivals, awarded the “Suoni Senza Confini“ for its original composition “Milonga Schupi“, collaborated with the Italian singer of progressive rock Bernardo Lanzetti and its recent debut in Moscow, together with the great tenor Marcelo Álvarez, was acclaimed by critics and public alike: “Young virtuosos create real magic on stage!“

It actively collaborates with tango dance companies, such as Tango Macho of Los Hermanos Macana, and receives constant requests to perform as the main orchestra in many tango festivals (Tarbes, Bordeaux, Trieste, Nizza, Odessa, Aix-en-Provence…). Tango Spleen has performed in theatres and on stages all over the world, winning enthusiastic receptions in Italy, Argentina, Norway, South Korea, Russia, France, Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, Monaco, and Slovenia.
