Nancy Louzan & Damian Essel

Nancy first discovered tango in 1993. She also worked as a TV and cinema actor. Damian is a painter and musician as well as an accomplished tango dancer. He started dancing in 1990.

They met in the Salon La Argentina, where they danced for the first time together. They continued their tango instruction, studying with Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Gabriel and Natalia, Raul Bravo, Graciela Gonzalez, Roberto Herrera, Chicho Frúmbolli and Eugenia Parrilla, Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne. They learned jumping technique with Cristina Cortes and Luis Bruni, partner technique and tricks with Rubén and Sabrina Veliz and ballet technique and stretching with Daniela Russak and Mónica Souto. To be more flexible, and to connect themselves better internally, they studied Hata Yoga with Stella Dettoni.

In 1997 they were invited by some students and agencies from Europe to do their first European tour, which they followed by a tour of the rest of the world. They have left their tango footprint in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Israel, Austria, Holland, Iceland, Turkey, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, North America, Hungary, France, New Zealand, Russia, Greece and Belgium. Damian danced tango in a 1999 commercial for the Coca Cola Company in Los Angeles, Hollywood, USA.

In Buenos Aires, they taught in La Florcita, in La Casa del Tango. At the moment, they teach in Villa Malcom and in Canning. They give performances at the numerous milongas of Buenos Aires. Also in Buenos Aires they have been teachers and dancers at the festival organized by the government in the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. In addition they did the Cosmotango Festival in its version of 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. They were judges at the first World Tango Championship in 2003 in Buenos Aires, as well as the latest edition in 2007. Also, in New Zealand in 2006 they judged the couples that would represent that country in Buenos Aires the following year.
